How much does it cost?

Price for painting work

In order to plan properly, you will appreciate receiving an estimate of what the work to be done will cost. One of our estimators must be able to visit the site to assess the scope of the work to be done. This person, who has a great deal of experience, will be able to provide you with a sufficiently accurate estimate of the cost and duration of the mandate. The fact that he or she will have been able to see the parts concerned and their condition on site is a guarantee of increased accuracy.

Your questions will be answered

Do you sometimes get free advice from paint specialists in the residential or commercial sector? That's rare, isn't it? You might as well take advantage of it! In preparation for this evaluation visit, it would be a good idea to make a written list of the questions that pop into your head. Also, when our specialist conducts the evaluation, you are less likely to forget to ask him or her any questions. Since he is a paint expert, his answers to your questions about the products used or the work required will be reliable.

It is also a good time to ask him about the choice of colors that will coat your walls, so that they blend well with other rooms.

If you have a special project in mind, don't miss the opportunity to submit your special requests to him so that he can take them into account in his evaluation.

Area in square feet

3-dimensional illustration in Victoriaville.
The essential element for a reliable cost evaluation is undoubtedly the size of the total surface area to be covered. This presupposes an accurate measurement. The calculation is not necessarily complicated, but dexterity in handling the measuring tape is essential. It is a matter of multiplying the dimensions corresponding to the height and width of each of the walls, but also of the ceiling if you also want to make it younger.  The operation must be repeated for all rooms to be repainted. Let's make a demonstration to illustrate the calculation to be made, i.e. multiplying first. Let's imagine a room with the following dimensions: 18 feet wide by 12 feet deep with a floor to ceiling height of 8 feet. We get this:

Wall 1: 12 feet x 8 feet =96 square feet
Wall 2: 18 feet x 8 feet = 144 square feet
Wall 3: 12 feet x 8 feet =96 square feet
Wall 4: 18 feet x 8 feet =144 square feet
Ceiling: 12 feet x 18 feet = 216 square feet

Then, the results calculated for each of the walls and the ceiling are added together, which totals 696 square feet. This is the total surface to be covered with paint. Knowing this value allows the calculation of the number of gallons required for the mandate. Finally, it allows, as a last step, to deduce how long the work will take, and thus, to be able to make an overall estimate. Other specific points must also be taken into account. Let's review them.

Working at heights

Some places have very high ceilings. In this case, the estimator will have to judge whether specialized equipment is required to ensure the safety of his painters. Sometimes scaffolding is sufficient. At other times, a basket is also necessary. Also, the care taken for the safety of our painters is proof of the irreproachable quality of the work that we want to deliver to you.

How many coats of paint?

Another aspect to be considered is the quantity of paint layers to be spread. To evaluate it, several other points have to be weighed. First of all, what level of quality you are asking for. But also, is it a question of walls and ceilings already covered with paint? If not, a primer followed by two coats of paint will be required. In the case where the walls are already painted, the primer is not essential. It is also important to take into account the difference in hue between the existing color and the new color to be used. Depending on whether the latter is lighter or darker, the quantity of layers to be painted will not be the same. If the new color is lighter than the previous one, three coats may be the quantity required to obtain an optimal covering effect.

How many colors?

Now, are you a fan of color? In other words, is it to the point of wanting several colors on the same wall? In this case, you will understand that the preparation will not be the same. This will obviously have an upward impact on costs.

Furniture or objects placed in the room

You are not without realizing that it is obviously easier to paint in a completely empty room than in one where furniture and objects abound. Being able to move freely speeds up the work. Also, if you can completely free the place, you will save money. In the case of a move, it would be wise to fix it after our mandate is completed, if such a thing is possible. Otherwise, if we have to live with your objects and furniture, our specialists will take all the time required to avoid staining or breaking them inadvertently.

Cutout

What is cutting? It is a technique designed to first paint the perimeter of a surface before filling the inside of the frame. This step cannot be avoided. It requires a great deal of attention to detail. The quantity of doors, mouldings, windows, electrical outlets, light fixtures... are all complications that add to the challenge. The time required to accomplish it is also considered in the cost evaluation. Once the estimate is established, we can make an arrangement with you as to the best time to complete the work. Plasterer
