How to reduce paint odors

Here we are at the very end of the work. Our staff is no longer on site. The place is spotless, as if they had never been there. No trace that it was a real construction site not so long ago, except for the freshly spread paint. Another sign of our passage is also there, however, and unfortunately we can't help it: it is this stinking smell of paint that takes you by the throat. On this page, we give you 7 tips to help reduce this paint smell.

Ventilate well

Open window allowing fresh air to enter a Victoriaville residence.
The first point is so simple that you've probably thought of it too: it's a matter of airing by simply opening the windows whenever possible. Don't limit yourself to areas where work has been done. Do it generously by opening in other rooms as well. This way, you will maximize air circulation. You will reap a double effect in addition to making the smell disappear more quickly: the paint will dry faster!

Use multiple fans

Several fans are better than one, of course. So, where you've just painted, you might as well use several of these devices that will chase the odor out of the place in no time at all... a propeller instead!  A stand fan is also suitable. Even your air conditioning or air exchange equipment, if it exhausts the air, can be useful.

The coffee grounds

Coffee beans in Victoriaville.
You love filter coffee maybe? Then you know that if you keep the coffee left in your filters after brewing and you put this coffee grounds in the oven, spread out on a plate, as big as possible, to heat it up, the smell will gradually cover that of the paint. Here the nauseous intruder will not last forever ad vitam aeternam.

The lemon

Lemon in Victoriaville.
Slices of lemon in boiling water give off a slightly acidic aroma that can also get rid of the noxious smell of paint. It is also possible to use any kind of citrus peel (orange, tangerine, lemon...) or to grate the peel to dispose of it in several places. You will be surprised by the pleasant refreshing smell that will gradually replace the unpleasant smell of paint. Repeat the chosen gesture as often as required or desired.

Baking soda

Sodium bicarbonate in Victoriaville.
It is common to use baking soda in the refrigerator, in the kitchen or even in the bathroom. So much so that few people are unaware of its odour-eliminating properties. So if you sprinkle it in a jar and leave it in a freshly painted room, it will help reduce the odour. The more you use, the greater the benefit. A large room requires more, of course.

Incense

Incense stick burning in Victoriaville.
Anything that gives off pleasant odours such as essential oils, incense or Armenian paper, if heated, can be beneficial. However, not all aromas have the same effect. Some may even make things worse. Eucalyptus or pine essences seem to be effective. That's good, because these are commonly loved fragrances. Try them out for yourself.

 Onion

Onions in Victoriaville.
The very last trick may not please some people: use onion. It is unlikely that you will have easy access to it in case you don't have it handy. Be aware that using onion is really effective when you put raw slices in two liters of boiling water. This gives off aromas that may tingle, but they have the art of chasing away the scent of paint like no other trick. Give it a try and see for yourself. Price
